Daniela Clynes is a British vocalist who has worked extensively as a jazz singer, songwriter, theatre performer and radio presenter.
She won a scholarship to study on the Advanced Jazz Course at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she studied until the early 90's.
She lived and worked as singer & singing teacher in New York City from 2004 - 2008.
She has led various different bands of her own, performing a wide mixture of song styles from jazz, Latin, pop, musical theatre to originals.
She has several of her own albums, both live performance and studio recordings. She has also sung as guest on other recordings.
Daniela has performed as a soloist within Scott Stroman's choir, "Eclectic Voicees" for various shows in recent years.
Daniela performs alongside singer, Esther Bennett and saxophonist, Duncan Lamont Jnr in a show of songs by his father, the great British Jazz composer Duncan Lamont Snr. This has been touring for the past 8yrs. She has recorded a number of his songs on her own album, with Duncan's Big Band and on a joint EP.
Daniela originated the role of the 'American Wife' in the hit show "Hotel", written by award winning playwright Caryl Churchill and composer Orlando Gough. This toured England and Europe over a two year period. Shortly afterwards, Orlando Gough created an 18-piece a' capella vocal group "The Shout", and Daniela was invited to join, alongside names such as Ian Shaw and Carol Grimes.
Daniela remained with The Shout for 5 years through hugely successful seasons of the show, "Tall Stories" at London venues - the Drill Hall, BAC, Purcell Room, the National Portrait Gallery and the Roundhouse plus national tours and radio & television broadcasts. The Shout's first two albums feature Daniela's soprano singing.
Daniela teamed up with her husband, film maker Tony Day, to make some music videos for songs on her new album; and live recordings of performances at Pizza Express Jazz Club, 606 Club and other London venues.
